A vertical platform succeeds or fails on one question: does it model how the industry actually works, including the exceptions people handle by phone and never document?

Generic software forces the business to bend around the tool. The work in a vertical build is the opposite — reading the real process closely enough that the software disappears into it.

The clearest example in our own record is a B2B trading platform for a Dubai client, where dealers had been sourcing high-value stock across hundreds of disorganised chat groups with no way to verify a counterparty or evidence a deal. Verified supplier onboarding, counterparty scoring, competitive bidding and inspection-to-payment settlement all exist because that industry works that way, not because a feature list called for them.

In regulated verticals such as healthcare, the same principle applies to compliance: access control, audit trail and record handling are architecture, not configuration.
